Best for
Mid-frequency travelers (4-8 trips/yr) who want Ultimate Rewards transfer-partner access without the Sapphire Reserve's $795 AF. United still transfers 1:1, and the June 2026 refresh added 3x on gas, EV charging, and vacation rentals plus a $100 annual Chase Travel hotel credit and a $120 TSA PreCheck/Global Entry credit every four years.
Not for
Light travelers (the $95 AF doesn't pencil under ~$1,500 of travel/yr), Hyatt loyalists chasing the old 1:1 transfer, and readers who won't bother with transfer-partner redemptions — at 1.0 cpp through the portal, this is just a 2x travel card with extra steps.
The catch
Chase cut the Ultimate Rewards → Hyatt transfer ratio from 1:1 to 4:3 for Preferred cardmembers (new applicants immediately from June 15, 2026; existing cardholders Oct. 1, 2026) — only the Sapphire Reserve still transfers to Hyatt at 1:1. United still transfers 1:1, and the 25% Chase Travel portal boost (1.25 cpp) is unaffected, but score the card around your actual redemption mix, not the old Hyatt math.
